National President of
the National Union of Bonny Students (NUBS), Kelvin Banigo says the forthrightness,
commitment and sense of purpose of his fellow students from Bonny Local
Government Area were key to the success, so far, of their ongoing National
Convention.
He said this on Friday,
December 21, 2018 in chat with Kristina Reports shortly after the Political
Platform, an interactive session between the students and the political class
in Bonny LGA, which was part of the 2018 convention.
Banigo, who described
the event as first of its kind, pointed out that the primary objective of the
programme, which was to create an avenue for interaction between students of
Bonny origin and their political leaders was achieved.
Aside the chapter presidents
of NUBS and their students drawn from various tertiary institutions across the
country, other dignitaries in attendance included the Chairman of the occasion,
the lawmaker representing Degema/Bonny federal constituency in the House of
Representatives, Randolph Brown, and the House of Assembly candidates of the
All Progressives Congress (APC), Dabota Jumbo, and Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP), Abinye Pepple. They were all represented their aides, Claude Hart, Kerry
Bristol, and Kalada Jumbo, respectively.
The NUBS leader
thanked the Chairman of Bonny LGA, David Irimagha, his Vice, Anengi Barasua, and
other members of his executive for their support throughout his stint as NUBS
leader.
He also expressed
appreciation to the chairman of the occasion and the two House of Assembly
candidates for gracing the event.
The outgoing NUBS National
President called on Bonny students to brace up for the next level, noting that
the development and progress of the community lies on their shoulders.
