I’ll work with INEC to improve elections – AA Candidate praises exercise
Gubernatorial candidate of Action Alliance in Rivers
State, Larry Allison has lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission
(INEC) for successful conduct of the governorship and House of Assembly
elections in the state.
He also pledged to work with the commission to
improve the electoral process should he emerge as Governor of Rivers State.
“I am highly elated because this is the best and the
most and wonderful and most peaceful election I have witnessed. And I know that
because the presence of God has descended on Nigeria, mostly in Bonny Kingdom
and in Rivers State things must go properly and are going properly,” Allison
told Kristina Reports shortly after voting in his polling unit, Ward 1, Unit 1,
Bonny LGA.
The AA candidate who expressed confidence that he
would win the polls stated that “we are going to sit down and have proper
understanding with INEC, telling them there are technocrats in the system who
have the wherewithal to give us a proper and very wonderful way of
electioneering like we have in the western countries.”
“We are not supposed to be where we are today. But if
all and sundry put our heads together we can get out of it and get the best for
our people.”
Allison, a former security buff who had a meritorious
career with the Department of State Services (DSS), hails from Bonny LGA.
I beg all electorates to end everything peacefully
the way I have seen it and believe God it is all going to end peacefully and a
winner must emerge.
He expressed delight with the large turnout of voters
and the peaceful atmosphere across the community while the exercise lasted,
saying it underscored voters confidence in the process.
“The large turnout is representative of voters’
confidence in the process, in fact 500%. The presence of every male and female
of Bonny Kingdom is here and those I have not seen over the years are all here
for this singular act and I know that we going to get the best out of the best
in the next few hours”.
“I was number two in my unit to vote and from what I have
heard only two of us, someone and myself, that the card reader was able to give
proper and adequate recording; it is still in the record there to see till now.”
He urged INEC to improve on the lapses experienced
during the polls by upgrading to electronic voting system.
“I urge them to improve more and possibly take us now
to voting through electronic system. There are some people who must have from
far and those people might have had one deformity or the other or due to issue
of finance they couldn’t come. If we go electronic everybody can be his comfort
zone and carry out their civic responsibility.”
