Bonny LG Reads Riot Act To Illegal Petroleum Merchants, Threatens Severe Penalties For Culprits
Bonny Local Government
Council has threatened to come down hard on merchants of illegal petroleum
products in the area, saying that the trend has the potential of sending the
local government area into extinction if left unchecked.
Vice Chairman of the
Local Government, Mrs. Anengi Barasua issued this warning on New Year Day while
visiting with the first baby of the year born to Mr. and Mrs. Sampson Amrabure,
in company of the wife of the Executive Chairman of Bonny LGA, Mrs. Tamunosa
Irimagha, at the General Hospital, Bonny.

According to a statement by her spokesperson, Boma Waribo, the Bonny LG Number two citizen was attracted to
the severe burns on two kids, a boy and girl, who were victims of a fire
incident resulting from explosion of gallon of petroleum products stored at
home by their father, one Mr. Harry.
Upon on interrogation,
Harry admitted to have kept several gallons of petroleum products indoors which
was his means of livelihood.
Barasua warned against illegal petroleum products merchandise, reiterating the firm
resolve of the Executive Chairman of the LGA, Engr. David Irimagha to clamp
down on such life threatening businesses.

Touched by the condition
of Mr. Harry and his family, who were currently homeless and indebted to the
hospital, Barasua promised to influence some support for their rehabilitation.
Congratulating Mr. and
Mrs. Amrabure for the arrival of their baby, the Vice Chairman sued for
dedication and commitment in the upbringing of the girl-child.
The baby of the year,
who arrived at 11:13am on January 1st, 2019, and was the only child born
in Bonny in 2019 as at the time of this report, and yet unnamed when the Vice
Chairman visited, was showered with gifts and cash in presence of her
appreciative parents.

In another development, the
Bonny LG Vice Chairman visited a tetanus-ridden child in the hospital, as well,
where, due to the impecunious realities of the parents, she offered to be of
assistance.
The Vice Chairman, along
with the LG Chairman’s wife left, in their trail, joy and hope with the
patients of the General Hospital, Bonny, as, according to her, “there was no
better way to start the year other than putting smiles on the faces of people.
She used the auspicious
occasion to wish the people of Bonny LGA a prosperous and healthy 2019 ahead.
