Hon. Abinye Pepple (centre) sympathizing with victims of the fire incident at Aganya, Bonny |
Following the fire
outbreak hours ago that ravaged a section of Aganya community in Bonny Local
Government, the lawmaker representing Bonny Constituency in the Rivers State
House of Assembly, Abinye Pepple visited the scene for an on-the-spot
assessment and inspection of the extent of damage caused by the fire.
Pepple, who said he
had to rush into town from Port Harcourt upon hearing of the incident, sympathized
with the affected residents whose properties were destroyed by the fire.
“I heard of this ugly
incident from Port-Harcourt and deemed it fit to come and see for myself, it is
saddening and quite unfortunate,” he said.
He revealed that the
framework for the operation of the Bonny Fire Station (BFS) was on and would be
integrated into Bonny Utility Company (BUC) for optimum management.
“As a lawmaker, I
can't pay the staff or run the sustenance of BFS, that's why the multinational companies
in Bonny are being met. BFS will be handed over to the kingdom after
commissioning,” he added.
The lawmaker reassured
the people that “hopefully by 2019 BFS will be commissioned to optimally
function in line with the vision and purpose for which it was nominated and
constructed”.
