NSCDC Asures Of Safety Of National Assets During Yuletide
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have given
assurance that it was ready and capable of securing the lives and properties of
citizens and foreigners and protection of national assets across the country.
The security agency further assured that Nigerians and foreigners,
especially, those residing Rivers State of a peaceful and hitch-free
celebrations during the yuletide season.
State Commandant of the NSCDC, Rivers State Command, Mohammed Lawal
Haruna gave this assurance while briefing Area Commanders, Divisional Officers,
Anti-Vandal Team, Counter-Terrorism and the Operations Department Team under
his command.
He charged them to redouble their efforts in ensuring that this year
yuletide is void of security breach.
A statement by the agency disclosed that 3,500 personnel of the corps
were already deployed to various flash points across the state, adding that places
of worship, recreation centers, parks and other resort centers were not left
out amongst places to be secured.
He, however, warns that the Anti-vandal Team and Counter-Terrorism
unit has since been on 24/7 patrol to ensure safety of critical national assets
in the state as well as lives and property.
He also called on the general public to report strange movement around
them and report all civil matters to the peace and conflict resolutions unit of
the corps for peaceful settlement, while wishing all residents in the state a peaceful
Christmas and prosperous New Year.
