Okrika/Ogu-Bolo 2019: Maureen Tamuno’ll Give Us A Voice In NASS – APC Chieftain
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okrika Local Government Area, Tobin Soala Iniowu says his party’s candidate for the Okrika/Ogu-Bolo federal constituency in the forthcoming 2019 elections, Maureen Tamuno will give a voice to the people of the area when she gets to the green chamber of the National Assembly.
He therefore urged all well-meaning sons and daughters of Okrika and Ogu-Bolo Local Government Areas to vote massively for her during the polls.
He premised his assertion on the fact that the past 16 years had been a waste of representative value for the people of Okrika and Ogu-Bolo as their voice was never heard in the National Assembly.
The APC stalwart lamented that the federal constituency was sidelined in the scheme of things because “for over 16 years, representation of Okrika/Ogu-Bolo Federal Constituency has been shady, invisible and perpetually silenced.”
He wondered if the individuals who represented the federal constituency were “not seeing other representatives raise issues as it affects their areas or is the federal constituency not having any issue(s) of national concern?
“Are they not receiving the constituency allowances as other representatives? We have been utterly bamboozled with a perennial silence in the green chambers over all these years.”
He noted that as time accelerates the people of the area were also “moving on to a greater propensity to develop our society anxiously on both on human capital and infrastructure wise”.
“This is why we present to you an erudite developer, builder and maker of men, women and youths, who has proven herself to be conscious in peaceful coexistence, prudent in management of resources and humble in service delivery.”
“Dame Maureen Piribonemi Tamuno, Se Belema-Bo of Wakirike is an embodiment of true representation in all ramifications; she is a brand colossus of inventions”.
He enumerated that her years as a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Commissioner for Women Affairs and later two term Chairman of Okrika LGA has attracted democratic dividends such as the construction of the Bolo Link Bridge, Bolo internal roads and drainages, Bolo Town Hall with state ofart modern facilities, and linking of Bolo to the national grid.
Other projects include construction of the 2 storey Ogu/Bolo Local Government Council Secretariat, Ogu Civic Arena, 2 storey Ogu Community Unity Hall, building in collaboration with Intels of the Olobulo International Market, construction of Ele Community Hall, scholarships for Master’s degree programmes abroad for indigent students of the area, water schemes at Ogu, Wakama, Ele, Bolo and Ikpo Ama, provision of fishing gadgets for fishermen, and provision of business loans for market women and empowerment of widows and the less privileged.
Tobin Soala Iniowu noted that “we cannot deny Wakirike the right to our shore protections and dredging of mangroves which are rightly in the exclusive list of the Federal Government,” appealing to the Okrika/Ogu-Bolo electorate to massively support her as, according to him, “Maureen Tamuno has a passion for the growth of the youths”.
