Bonny Legislative Council, People-oriented, Peaceful - Leader
The 8th Legislative Council of Bonny Local Government Area says it was focused on partnering with the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Engr. David Irimagha on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the area.
Further to achieving this, the Council said it was conducting its legislative business in a peaceful atmosphere devoid of rancour and acrimony.
In a chat with Kristina Reports, Leader of the Council, Hon. Miriam Hart maintained that there was no crisis among the Councillors, as they were determined on creating the right legal framework for the policies and programmes of the executive arm to succeed and positively impact the lives of the people.
She called for the support of all stakeholders in driving the vision of the current administration in the area.
"We're focused on supporting the executive arm led by Hon. David Irimagha and how he is going to achieve the vision of affecting the lives of the people positively."
"In the course of the legislative process there were bound to be arguments and exchange of ideas, agreements and disagreements; that's not a crisis. We disagree to agree and eventually come up with the right laws and bye-laws to help the Chairman perform well," she said.
On his part, the Councillor representing Ward 8 in the Council, Hon. Mie-Iyeoju Jumbo debunked insinuations making the rounds that there was a fracas on the floor of the Council.
He stated that though members were bound to have disagreements in course of doing their legislative business, that does not translate into a fracas.
He assured the people of the area of the commitment of the Assembly to work with the LG Chairman in improving their living conditions.
He added that the Assembly was focused on assisting the executive arm in conceptualizing and implementing policies and programmes that would affect their lives positively.
