AMAZING!!! SEE HOW THIS MONARCH IS ATTRACTING INVESTORS TO HIS DOMAIN
As the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) and her partners
shuffled up processes to fast-track the signing of the final investment
decision on the trains 7 and 8 in its plant in Bonny Island which will see the
projects get off the ground, the traditional ruler of the community, His
Majesty, King Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, Perekule XI, Amanyanabo
and Natural Ruler of Grand Bonny has also been marshalling strategies to assure
a conducive atmosphere for the projects to run seamlessly.
Suave, affable, and urbane, the monarch, who is loved by his
people, has been strategically interfacing with government at all levels,
multinationals and other investors both within and outside Nigeria to attract
investment and its attendant development to his kingdom.
At the moment, NLNG, National Petroleum Investment Management
Services (NAPIMS), Shell, Total and Agip were making progress at taking the
Final Investment Decision (FID), on the Nigeria’s $10 billion LNG trains 7 and
8 project in Bonny Island, which is expected to increase the nation’s total LNG
output from 22 million metric tonnes per annum, MMTPA, to 30 MMTPA.
Already, the NLNG has trains 1 to 6 running on the island,
alongside Shell and Mobil which also have the Bonny oil and gas terminal and
Bonny river terminal, respectively there. Belema Oil has also arrived to
replace Chevron.
A memorandum of understanding was recently signed between the
community and multinationals doing business in his community to shore up and
fast-track the development of the area.
Also about to commence is the construction of the Bodo-Bonny
road project which aims to link up the island to other parts of the country
when completed. This would certainly unleash limitless business opportunities
for the area with the influx of people from different parts of the world.
With NLNG alone contributing about 4 per cent of Nigeria's
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and remitting company income tax of over N200
billion annually to the Federal Government, not to talk of corresponding
revenue from Shell, Mobil, Chevron and now Belema Oil, the community needs all
the peace and security it can muster.
Back home, he has been busy proactively promoting peace and
security as well as sustainable development by setting up structures such as
the security committee, anti-cultism committee, and development foundation,
among others. These are to ensure an enabling environment to drive the
multipronged investment efforts.
Underway is the first Bonny Kingdom Peace and Security Summit
billed to hold September 3. This is coming at a time when final decisions are
being reached for the commencement of train 7 of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural
Gas (NLNG) plant in Bonny Island.
Kristina Reports has learned that the revered Niger delta
monarch has sought the commitment of various stakeholders to ensure the success
of the summit which aims at deliberating on the imperatives of peace and
security in the community ahead of the road project and commencement of the
NLNG train 7.
